Beautiful, coastal city that extends fairly well inland. A favorite city of middle-aged professionals and families, Carlsbad rises from the ocean to the hills. The city has many pretty views and big lots. Carlsbad is close, intimate community town.
Located east of Del Mar and Interstate 5, Carmel Valley straddles both sides of Del mar Heights. Booming section, one of the most vibrant in the County. New highway construction has made this community more accessible over the past few years and an ideal city, for many.
Small, wealthy city on the Pacific famous for its racetrack - "where the surf meets the turf". Many singles or empty nesters, this neighborhood attracts many affluent and well- educated professionals. Safe, upscale community.
To a great extent, the great allure of Encinitas lies in its terrain. It rises, falls, and rises again higher, creating great vistas of the Pacific and San Elijo Lagoon. Coastal city mixes old housing with new properties, moving towards the "upscale."
Much of Escondido is built on flat land or gentle mesas but there are hills and not too far off, within view, mountains. Escondido is small bedroom community located inland off Interstate 15. Escondido means "hidden valley."
Famed throughout the world, La Jolla is probably San Diego's most well-known city. Translated into "Jewel by the Sea", La Jolla homes rival the best in the nation. Located on the Pacific, La Jolla is home to a University of California and its Scripps Institute of Oceanography.
Coastal inland city famous for its ties to the Unites States Marine Corps but also interestingly enough, known as a sleepy, bedroom community. Most of the new housing has gone in and up with striking views well in from the Pacific. Oceanside also attracts large amounts of tourists, year-long.
Upscale community, located just east of Interstate 15. Poway has a plethora of new homes. Pronounced "Pow-Way" but some old timers prefer "Pow-Y." It's an Indian word that means either "meeting place of the valleys" or "gourd" (which apparently grew abundantly). Residents are known as Powegians.
Middle Class, Upscale. Rancho Bernardo started out as an address for the elderly but soon took in young families. Located just west of Poway (in its northern sector). Named after a Spanish land grant. Called by many "RB."
New community in the Interstate 15 corridor also called Penasquitos. Middle class leaning towards upscale. Family oriented. Many kids. The 50,718 residents live in 15,839 units of these 12,380 are single homes, 3,457 are apartments or condos and 2 mobiles (2000 census).
San Diego is the 7th most populous city in the nation, behind Phoenix, Philadelphia, Houston, Chicago, LA and New York. San Diego is a big, sprawling city that is laid out in a way that's surely bound to confuse.
Bedroom city just east of Vista and Carlsbad, San Marcos is one of the fastest growing communities in the county. Home to a community college and a California State University, San Marcos is situated perfectly along the outskirts of the North County.
Wealthy, upscale community hidden between Encinitas and Del Mar. Solana Beach translates into the words "Sunny Beach." With a quaint downtown area and close proximity to the freeway, Solana Beach is a favorite city amongst San Diegans.
Tierrasanta, Spanish for "sainted land," is a community within the city of San Diego, California.
Vista is a bedroom community located inland from Oceanside and Carslbad with a small, country feel. Mix of old and new homes built on mesas and hills, Carlsbad homes employ many great views.
