EAST COUNTY

Almost every city in San Diego boasts that it has the perfect climate. For much of San Diego's East County, that argument has some substance. Far enough away from coastal fog, yet close enough to get the cooled by the Pacific, San Diego's East County has less swings in temperatures year-round.

East County San Diego holds plenty of open land and is the most spacious of all counties. In fact, much of San Diego's East County has been left in ranches, Indian reservations and parks.

Attractions in East County San Diego include San Diego State University, several of the counties top Indian casinos, and the city of Julian - home of the best apple pies in the world.

La Mesa

Located approximately 15 miles from downtown San Diego, La Mesa is a gem of a city. Inland bedroom city near Lake Murray where rental units slightly outnumber owned occupied housing units. Middle class community.

El Cajon

El Cajon, incorporated since 1912, has all the amenities of a well-established city. Translation, "The Box", the majority of El Cajon is built on a valley floor. El Cajon is surrounded by hills, which make for pleasant viewing throughout the town.

Santee

Suburban, bedroom community with a country flavor. Schools are a plus for this town where almost all of its elementary schools rank in the 70 th to 90 th percentile on a statewide comparison.
