Chula Vista (beautiful view) is San Diego County's second biggest city and still growing. If you are in the market for a new home, Chula Vista is building them by the thousands. The city has two distinct sides divided by the 805 freeway. On the east is recent development that is new and sparkling. To the west is made up of 40-60 year old tracts of homes... some well maintained and others not.

There is a ground swell of effort to revitalize the west side and the downtown area of Chula Vista is certainly the beneficiary regaining much of its former "main street USA" charm. Chula Vista has many recreational offerings: a boat launch and two marinas, about 2 dozen parks, a teen nightclub, four municipal pools, four community centers, a museum, five golf courses, tennis, soccer, football, softball, baseball and more. There is a water park, concerts in the park, a skate park and Coors Amphitheater which seat about 8000 and plays host to many mainstream acts.

Chula Vista expanded its eastern borders by developing master planned communities beginning in the 1980s and ongoing today.

Chula Vista is served by the Chula Vista Elementary School District. To a large extent, the district gives each school autonomy concerning how curriculum will be taught and money spent. Almost every year for the past 6 years, the Chula Vista Elementary School District has opened a new school.

Chula Vista is a family town with nearly 30% of the residents under the age of 18. Two freeways give Chula Vista easy access into downtown San Diego: the 805 Freeway through the middle of the city and the 5 freeway further west.
